Does Putting A Battery On The Ground Kill It. Now its not an issue as batteries have plastic cases that are waterproof. Or a battery left sitting on such surface will never again properly hold a charge.
As soon as you have connected the battery in reverse you already blew the rectifying diodes on the alternator. Dont know why but it works. That myth started from when battery cases back in the day were made of wood.
Well this myth is false.
It will eventually loose its charge not from sitting on the concrete though. This also brings up an important maintenance point. A subsequent innovation encasing the battery in hard rubber also had its drawbacks as rubber is both made of carbon and a bit porous. Shutting off your vehicle before the alternator has a chance to recharge could explain why the battery continues dying or doesnt seem to last long.
